We have been chosen to participate in Give Miami Day

We have been chosen for the second consecutive year by The Miami Foundation to participate in Give Miami Day, an annual giving movement that brings together nonprofits of all sizes to celebrate and increase generosity in Greater Miami. Please join us on November 17th for 24 hours of online giving in support of the programs we provide in Miami-Dade County for high school students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This event raises awareness of the vital role our B.R.I.D.G.E.S. Program plays in our community. We are working together to make Miami a thriving, more inclusive place for everyone. Please don’t pass up your chance to make a positive difference in the lives of the teens and young adults we serve.

Official Bank Account Owners!

Official Bank Account Owners!

This past weekend was definitely a busy one for our HDS B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students. On Saturday morning, the students visited Bank of America with their parents as part of our Community Based Instruction (CBI) to open their first bank account. Funds from our Foundation’s grant make it possible for each student to receive $100 to open an account. They will use the money as they venture out on their CBI field trips each week during the school year.

Thanks to all of you and our donors who gave during Give Miami Day last year, we can continue to expand our HDS B.R.I.D.G.E.S. program and fund the activities that will help these students learn life skills as they transition to their post-secondary journey.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tara Rowe, Founder, and Director of UNF THRIVE

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tara Rowe, Founder, and Director of UNF THRIVE, on being named an honoree of the NBC First Coast News 12 Who Care Award, which recognizes local residents who make a difference in the lives of others. Cristina Miranda, our Chairman and CEO had the honor of nominating Dr. Rowe (Tara), the creator and developer of the THRIVE Program. It supports the University of North Florida’s Degree Seeking Students on the Autism Spectrum. Few people can match Dr. Rowe’s commitment to empowering young women and men on the Autism Spectrum. We’ve had the privilege of learning from her and collaborating closely with her and the organizations involved in this cause to improve these outcomes with great success. The HDS Foundation is pleased to support the THRIVE Program, and we appreciate Dr. Rowe’s (Tara’s) tremendous dedication to her students.

Homecoming Week

Homecoming Week

Students in our HDS B.R.I.D.G.E.S. program participated in various activities during Homecoming Week. The students deserve so much praise for participating in Tacky Tourist, PJ Day, Favorite Sports Team, Color Wars, and Homecoming. Homecoming was attended by every program participant for the first time this year. We love seeing our students thrive as they participate in social events with their peers.
