ASDY-TECH is a NEW (Jobs-related) Program initiated by The HDS Foundation, Inc. This program will focus on providing training and potential employment to young adults who are on the Autism Spectrum. ASDY-TECH (coined after the Autism Spectrum Disorder Young adults), is being designed as a micro-enterprise entity of The HDS Foundation, Inc, and will focus on small technical projects that can be scaled to address the employment needs of this population, while meeting the requirements of different businesses and persons.
With the growing rate of incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorder-related births, and the current numbers of youth aging out of secondary education, the need for employment opportunities for this group of individuals is increasing each day. Leveraging what are natural skill sets for this group of emerging workers, and the ability to learn and acquire certain technical, organizational and creative skills, The HDS Foundation, Inc. has launched ASDY-TECH. We are embarking on a journey to create a “Business-Mentor” model that supports an “Entrepreneurial Service” that will provide meaningful employment to young adults on the Autism Spectrum. By providing certain technical and business learning opportunities, our goal is to create a workforce that can meet the needs of businesses in our community and beyond.
Our pilot program is our eHP Digital Docs project. Supporting the transition of workflow deliveries from paper to digital format, this first project will create a direct employment opportunity for several young adults. Working closely with local ASD-community service entities, The HDS Foundation, Inc. will be gearing up to interview, hire, train, and deploy this service by mid-year 2018. This pilot program will allow us to work with this small group of young adults and not only provide this opportunity to meet the project’s business needs, but also to identify key areas that need focus, opportunities, strengths and the basis for creating our micro-enterprise and model.
The HDS Companies (www.HDSCompanies.com) support this program, are deep-rooted in the affordable housing and community development markets. Our two main business lines Housing and Development Software (www.hdsoftware.com) and eHousingPlus (www.eHousingPlus.com) will utilize the ASDY-TECH services once in place. This opportunity is fitting, since many of the clients we serve are in the business of providing and supporting mission-based, community programs. The eHP Digital Docs project is part of the eHousingPlus business line.
