Driving can be an anxiety-inducing event for many people. Neurodiverse individuals, particularly those with autism, tend to experience heightened levels of anxiety when driving, especially when it’s time to take their driving exam. As a result, many capable adults with autism avoid pursuing their driver’s license due to overriding anxiety. The DRIVE Program – a blend of virtual and hands-on driving experience -- helps prepare atypical learners for a successful driving exam.

Equine therapy helps children and adults with intellectual and developmental differences (IDD) reach their full potential by improving confidence, flexibility, balance, posture and muscle strength as well as psychological, cognitive, behavioral, social, and communication skills. NFSSE offers therapeutic riding lessons and groundwork activities for children and adults with IDD after school and on weekends. A percentage of riding opportunities is reserved for neurotypical children to learn alongside riders with IDD. This Reverse Inclusion activity has been shown to benefit both parties and is a lot of fun.

Project SEARCH is a one-year program designed for students with disabilities who have a goal of employment, have met graduation requirements and are between the ages of 18-21 years of age (preferably nearing the end of their FAPE eligibility). This national model for high school transition and workforce development provides career exploration and training opportunities for young adults with disabilities. Participants learn complex employability and job skills while completing three, ten-week internships within a host business. Individualized job development and placement in competitive employment occurs based on each person's experiences, interests, strengths and skills. Workplace accommodations and on-the-job coaching are provided during and after the program as needed.
