Spotlight on Kate Gilson Miranda
Kate wears many hats, a sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, niece, granddaughter, team member, and role model but above all, she is a leader in empowerment and inclusion. As an HDS B.R.I.D.G.E.S. alumna, University of North Florida graduate, and HDS Foundation Board Member and Educator & Program Facilitator, Kate continues to inspire students, parents, and educators, showing them that with the right support, young adults with disabilities can thrive. This past year, Kate took on an even bigger role through Best Buddies as an Ambassador, representing individuals with disabilities on a larger stage. Kate’s mission is raising awareness, advocating for inclusion, and making a lasting impact. We are so proud of Kate and the difference she is making one day at a time, one life at a time.

BRIDGES Students Gain Lifelong Skills
Our Broward County students had an amazing opportunity to showcase their micro-enterprise at the monthly ESE Specialist meeting for the district! With the support of staff, they created and sold handmade pens and keychains—earning an impressive $130 in sales!
This hands-on experience not only helped them develop business skills but also highlighted their creativity and hard work. Way to go, future entrepreneurs!
BRIDGES Students Cultivate Confidence Through Gardening
The Broward BRIDGES students have been hard at work in their school garden, taking care of several garden beds by weeding, watering, and tending to a variety of vegetables and herbs! Each student plays an important role—whether it’s filling water cans, pulling weeds, or making sure the plants get the care they need.
When it’s time to harvest, these fresh ingredients will be used to create delicious recipes, bringing their hard work full circle! Hands-on learning at its best!
