Our students enjoyed a meal at Flanigan’s to celebrate before the Thanksgiving holiday. This was our first outing to a sit-down restaurant as a class. During the classes leading up to our outing, the students learned about the types of meals offered at a restaurant (appetizer, drink, entrée, dessert), how to choose a meal, how to order, manners, and budgeting while eating out. The students reviewed the menu online and chose their desired meal, then practiced ordering in the classroom. The students had a great time at Flanigan’s on the day of our outing. Each student ordered their own meal, patiently waited for the food to arrive, engaged in conversation with their peers while waiting, and then enjoyed their meals. We discussed the trip with the students during the next class period and the students are all excited for the next outing!
