After 6 exciting and fast paced months preparing for our very first experience participating in Give Miami Day, WE FINALLY DID IT!!! The HDS Foundation successfully reached and surpassed our goal of $20,000!

The months of October and November consisted of a variety of events for our staff to participated in such as: Zoom calls, socials, Sports Day, a pep rally, and celebrations! Events were planned both in- house and virtually so all HDS staff could have a chance to become invested into our Give Miami Day Campaign. We kickstarted our company campaign with an ice cream social where the HDS Foundation educated the staff about our programs, and how they support teens and young adults on the Autism Spectrum learn life skills to help students transition to their post- secondary journey. The following week, we got competitive and had a sports day where the staff was divided into teams and competed against each other by playing Jeopardy and answering questions about Give Miami.

As a final push for our campaign, we had a pep rally the day before Give Miami Day to get ready for the big day! HDS Ambassadors, Kate and Miguel led the staff in many cheers and motivated everyone to donate! Once the day finally arrived, November 18th, staff showed their dedication and support by taking 30 minutes from their schedule to reach out to friends and family to remind them to donate to HDS Foundation. As the day progressed, we eagerly watched our donations continue to increase and our goal thermometer get filled up.

Finally, about an hour before Give Miami ended, the HDS Foundation had exceeded its goal of $20,000!! We are incredibly grateful for all those who donated to make this possible. We can’t wait to begin to reach out to more high schools to provide our B.R.I.D.G.E.S. Grant to teach the students life schools about Budgeting, Resources, Independence, Growth, Empowerment and Social Skills.
