Every week, the B.R.I.D.G.E.S. class has their Community Based Instruction trip where students are able to practice their skills. For this CBI, the students put their budgeting skills to the test. Upon arrival, students were divided into groups of 3-4 and were handed a $15 gift card along with a list of office supplies the class needs. The purpose of this activity was for students to come together and buy as many items as they could while staying under budget (including tax). It was exciting to see the students become super competitive and collaborative with one another. The winning team (Nick D, Nick DT and Ethan) bought 9 items at a total of $13.13.
This activity addressed the B.R.I.D.G.E.S. areas of Budgeting, Independence, and Social skills. Stay tuned for the next CBI!
